Summary:Some remarkable crystals of fluorite have been found at a road-cut on Highway 105, 10 km NW of Hull, Quebec, Canada. The crystals exhibit an unusual morphology with hexoctahedral overgrowths oriented in parallel position at the apices of the primary octahedron. The overgrowths show the forms (731), (100), (111), (110), and (10.1.1.). The crystals are pale blue-green, with violet colour-centres oriented along the four-fold axes and concentrated at the octahedral apices. Spectrochemical analyses on a bulk sample gave 0.03% Y, 0.02% Fe, traces of Sr and Ce, and detected no Ti, V, or Cr. [G.W.R.]
