Summary:The Triassic Rio Freddo volcanic rocks near Tarvisio, N Italy, consist of volcanic clastic rocks in the lower part, overlain by an upper formation of ignimbrites. The rocks are dacites, rhyodacites, and rhyolites, characterized by high K2O contents (3.94-12.70%) and clearly affected by deuteric alteration. Major and trace element analyses are presented for eight rocks; the geochemistry of the 'immobile' trace elements indicate an overall geochemical homogeneity in these rocks and a clear calc-alkaline affinity.
