Summary:The habit of hydrothermally-grown synthetic K-feldspar is the same as that from natural occurrences and is dependent on the chemical environment, especially pH, and on the T of formation. No influence of foreign ions, such as Fe, Li, Be, PO4, and BO3 could be established. The ratio of the central distances of (110) and (010) is a useful guide for estimating the T of formation; it increases with increasing T. The ratio of the central distances of (001) and (110), however, is a measure for the relative stretching of the crystal in the direction of the c-axis. [I.Kb.]
