Summary:Galena from Tynagh gave a Pb-isotope model age for mineralization of 348 + or - 22 m.y. agreeing with the stratigraphic date, whereas that from Silvermines is anomalously radiogenic. It is considered that Pb at Tynagh has been derived from multi-cycled sediments that approximate evolution in the orogen. The Silvermines data may be explained if the metalliferous fluids had preferentially leached radiogenic Pb from the source rocks. [R.A.H.]
