Summary:A two-stage procedure is described for the calculation of a best-fit ellipsoid from elliptical sections measured on three or more arbitrary planes. The first stage produces an initial, trial solution which is used as a starting point for a standard, linear, least-squares treatment to determine the best-fit ellipsoid. [M.E.J.]
