Summary:In the sequence granite rt arrow aplite rt arrow pegmatite rt arrow hypothermal quartz veins with Sn-W mineralization, muscovite is the only mica universally present. The trace-element contents of 13 muscovites and 8 biotites are tabulated. The Nb, Sn and W contents of the muscovites which crystallized earlier than wolframite in the paragenetic sequence increase with fHF of the fluids with which they are in equilibrium. In the biotites, Sn concentrates more readily in that from contact-metamorphosed metagreywacke than in that from contact-metamorphosed phyllite. [R.A.H.]
