Summary:Blue kyanite from a pegmatite at Serro do Menucue, Mozambique, where it is associated with barian chromian muscovite (M.M. 42-292), biotite and andesine, has alpha 1.720, beta 1.730, gamma 1.753, 2Valpha 82°; a 7.125, b 7.846, c 5.569 A; alpha 89.846°, beta 101.336°, gamma 106.012°; sp. gr. 3.70. Electron probe analysis gave SiO2 37.09, Al2O3 62.59, TiO2 0.02, Cr2O3 0.40, FeO 0.09, = 100.19; trace elements are also tabulated. [R.A.H.]
