Summary:Ordovician igneous intrusions mobilized hydrocarbons from organic-rich source rocks in the Lower Palaeozoic Welsh Basin. Hydrocarbons in Carboniferous limestone are genetically related with Pb-Zn mineralization but their association with Pb-Zn-Cu ores in Ordovician and Longmyndian rocks in W Shropshire is largely coincidental. Hydrocarbons in siderite nodules from the Coal Measures are spatially related to metal sulphides. [C.M.B.H.]
