Summary:The REE content of these gabbros was determined by NAA. The alkali gabbros are characterized by high REE contents and a negative Eu anomaly; the leuco-gabbros have low REE and a positive anomaly; gabbros from the marginal facies have an REE pattern falling between alkali gabbros and leuco-gabbros, and lack the prominent Eu anomaly. The rocks are interpreted to be comagmatic: the REE pattern of the marginal gabbros is regarded as representative of the parent magma, whereas the alkali gabbros and leuco-gabbros are related to crystalline fractionation, and represent residual melt and cumulates, respectively.
