Summary:Graphitic pelitic rocks of the western Moinian were metamorphosed at the time of emplacement of the Strontian granodiorite, giving a metamorphic zonation in which the sillimanite zone (with no K-feldspar) is succeeded by the muscovite-sillimanite-K-feldspar zone, the sillimanite-K-feldspar zone (without primary muscovite) and the cordierite-K-feldspar zone. Electron probe data for 16 muscovites and feldspars show that all the muscovites are compositionally similar. From cordierite-garnet-sillimanite-biotite-K-feldspar assemblages, a P estimate of 4.1 + or - 0.4 kbar is obtained, with T at the cordierite-K-feldspar isograd estimated as 690°C. [R.A.H.]
