Summary:Hydrocarbon source rocks (= or <1000 m thick) in marine shales of Cenomanian-Coniacian age in this basin contain 1-2.5% Corg. Palaeotemperature indicators (vitrinite reflectance and spore colour) indicate relatively low maturation; calculated depths to the oil generation threshold range 3600-4000 m. A variety of basin models are discussed. [R.A.H.]
