Summary:A striking regional feature is the absence of large negative anomalies corresponding with the position of the major North Sea graben system: some form of isostatic compensation must be invoked. A broad gravity high on the upthrown side of the western boundary faults of the Viking graben has an associated magnetic anomaly and may be related to a buried granite batholith on the East Shetland Platform.
