Summary:Regional mapping and structural observations have defined a western thrust margin to the Helgeland nappe complex between Grong and Bindalsfjord, N Norway, manifested in a thick, composite, mylonite zone beneath the granitic Bindal massif. A profile and series of samples are described showing the textural, microstructural and mineralogical transformations of a massive porphyritic granite through foliate gneisses to blastomylonite and ultramylonite.
