Summary:The history of cumulate terminology is reviewed and some modifications to the scheme of Irvine are suggested. The Rhum evidence is felt to confirm the view that postcumulus cementation occurred at an early stage, while the intercumulus melt was in effective contact with the main body of magma. [C.H.D.]
