Summary:Andesite, tuff, and tuff breccia subjected to hydrothermal alteration such as propylitization and/or silicification form chlorite, smectite, sericite, interstratified minerals of mica/smectite and chlorite/smectite. Stilbite and laumontite are also found in those rocks. The formation mechanisms of clay minerals are discussed. [Y.A.]
