Summary:Water solubility data for a wide range of natural and synthetic aluminosilicate melts have been compiled to try and find correlations between melt composition and solubility. Some interesting systematics have been found but it is considered that much more work needs to be done before it is possible to understand the compositional dependence of water solubility and the water dissolution process at the molecular level.
