Summary:Migmatites are associated with the emplacement of the peridotites of the Sierra Bermeja, Andalusia, and of Cape Bougaroun. Both massifs are petrographically similar. Moreover the quartz of the nodules in the migmatites from Andalusia and from Lesser Kabylia have the same characteristics of themoluminescence. Therefore the Cape Bougaroun massif belonged to the same ensemble as the Sierra Bermeja massif which is presently 1,000 km apart. So it constitutes a remnant of the relative motion of the Alboran block westward. The emplacement of the peridotites predates this displacement which ended before Langhian time (16 m.y.) and which was probably more ancient than the Upper Oligocene (25 m.y.). [M.L.]
