Summary:The Kaluwe complex, a stratified sheet-like body of volcaniclastic carbonatite, gives K/Ar ages of 113-101 m.y. The carbonatite overlies Upper Karoo sandstone but its cover of continental siliciclastic sediments post-dates the carbonatite. The complex is interpreted as a relict of the distal deposits of a large, long- lived carbonatite volcano. [R.A.H.]
