Preliminary fluid inclusion studies of the Mace Head Mo-Cu deposit in the Galway Granite

Summary:Fluid inclusions in this granite, quartz veins and a K-feldspar breccia cutting the granite are predominantly NaCl-bearing (Type 1), with subordinate CO2-bearing (Type 2), and Type 3 with a solid phase. TH-salinity plots of Type 1 inclusions show a dilution trend from approx 350 degrees C and approx 10 eq wt.% NaCl to approx 180 degrees C and < 3 eq wt.% NaCl salinity, attributed to a mixing of moderate T and salinity fluid (?magmatic) with a lower T and salinity fluid (?meteoric).
