Summary:In these rocks five suites define a conformable stratigraphic sequence correlated with the Willyama supergroup of the Broken Hill block, probably of approx 1800 m.y. Deformation and metamorphism occurred approx 1580 m.y. ago. It appears that an initial recumbent fold terrain was redeformed by upright folds with a near-vertical axis. The Olarian orogeny had a single compressional axis and both folding events show transport to the SE. Tectonic fabrics are consistent with simple shear deformation generating the early recumbent terrain. [R.E.S.]
