Summary:The equilibration temperatures determined on eclogites and eclogitic mica schist from the Sesia-Lanzo zone using Fe-Mg partition data on coexisting phases and oxygen stable isotope measurements fall in two groups: approx 520°C for the eclogites and approx 800°C for the mica schists. Several hypotheses are considered: 1) the role of the bulk chemistry of the rock - the phengite fixes the Mg and 2) an evolution of the rock through several stages - a high-T stage followed by low-T (down to 350°C), suggested by isotopic fractionation values; 3) an isotopic re-equilibration of assemblages at approx 500°C. From the jadeite content in clinopyroxene, the formation P was approx 13+ or -1 kbar. [R.A.H.]
