Summary:Eclogites associated with serpentinites occur in the metamorphic series of Maclas. Relict phases allow calculation of eclogitic conditions around 700-770 degrees C for minimum P of 14-16 kbar. They underwent a retromorphic evolution from granulite facies (10- 13 kbar, 750-830 degrees C) to amphibolite and greenschist facies (P < 5 kbar, T < 400 degrees C), similar to that of the eclogites from the Lyonnais area. These results demonstrate that the Maclas series belong to the high-P upper allochthon and imply the extension of this nappe S of the Pilat unit. [M.L.]
