Carbon isotope geothermometry of graphite-bearing marbles from central Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica

Summary:For coexisting carbonate-graphite pairs, delta13C values were -0.1 to +4.6 per mille (PDB) for calcite +- dolomite and - 3.3 to + 1.7 per mille for graphite. The fractionation delta13C (carb-gr) was 2.9 to 4.0 per mille and is similar to values in other granulite-facies marbles. Metamorphic T are predominantly 700-800 degrees C, in agreement with silicate geothermometer values. [K.v.G.]
