Summary:The different mineralogical and chemical compositions of the bauxites of the various horizons of the Tethys are connected mainly with the conditions of the bauxite formation or the conditions which prevailed after bauxite formation. Data are presented in two tables: 1) geologicalsituation and mineralogical composition of important Greek and Hungarian bauxites, and 2) chemical composition of various bauxitic horizons from Greece and Hungary. In order to understand all the bauxitic deposits of the Tethys, comparison of the data in the tables facilitates interpretation of the differences which exist between them. [J.M.H.]
