Summary:A metamorphic sole made up of amphibolites and garnet-bearing mica schists is well exposed in N Albania at the base of ultramafic rocks. It overlies the Jurassic volcano-sedimentary 'Diabas- Hornstein' sequence. Metamorphism of medium T and P conditions seems to have affected the top of this sequence. The degree of metamorphism decreases downward from the contact between serpentine and the metamorphic sole. [M.L.]
