Summary:Eclogitic rocks occur interlayered with amphibolites and migmatites in this upper unit of the Alpujarride complex. Estimates of P-T conditions indicate a retrograde metamorphic path from an eclogitic stage of > 15 kbar and approx 730 degrees C to amphibolite-facies conditions at < than or = to 5-8 kbar and approx 650 degrees C. The Ronda peridotites (Los Reales nappe) structurally overlie the Ojen nappe. It is suggested that the eclogitic metamorphism and overthrusting of the peridotites reflect different stages of the same convergent episode. [R.A.H.]
