Summary:Organic samples (plants, humus, organic stream sediments) are digested in a micro-wave oven, and contamination from the laboratory environment and equipment is avoided by the use of closed Teflon-vessel digestion systems; mineral soils, stream sediments, etc. are digested in aqua regia. After digestion, the solutions are analysed by ICP-AES using optimum running parameters selected from experiment. Results are given for USGS GXR2 (soil). [R.A.H.]
