Diagenetic controls on multiphase pyritization of graptolites

Summary:A wide variety of pyrite morphotypes may be observed within graptolites preserved within mudstone sequences, including microcrysts, framboids, euhedral crystals, and 'floriform' overgrowths. All are illustrated with SEM photomicrographs. All of the diagenetic pyrite has isotopically light sulphur compositions, indicating formation during early diagenesis. [C.H.D.]
