Summary:The Argentiere Glacier is the classic locality in the Alps where exceptional crystals of pink fluorite and smoky quartz are collected. The Alpine fissures are mainly located in rock walls with extreme difficulties of access. Other minerals found here include aeschynite, albite, brookite, calcite, epidote, hematite, siderite and titanite. [R.A.H.]
