Summary:The distribution of 27 elements extracted by various procedures from Finnish arable soils has been considered in detail. Metal content is clearly dependent on soil type, with the highest contents of most elements being found in fine-grained clay and silt and in organic soils. There is not a large difference between the contents of topsoil and subsoil samples. [R.A.H.]
