Summary:In a field-based calibration, it is shown that the variation of Mg/Ca ratios with T is similar for 8 species of foraminifera, accounting for Mg dissolution effects. Past T reconstructed from Mg/Ca ratios follow past T from faunal abundance and alkenone saturation. Reconstructed surface water δ 18O from all foraminiferal species record the same glacial/interglacial change. [R.K.H.]
