Summary:In a recent description of this beryl occurrence it was interpreted according to the classical theory of exometasomatism. It is here argued that the occurrence of phenakite, alexandrite and emerald at Franqueira is another example of multistage Be mineralization related to regional metamorphism. [R.A.H.]
