Summary:Intrusion of a 6m thick Tertiary gabbro sill into garnet grade pelitic gneiss and psammite at 600 bars gave a 3m contact aureole. Modelling indicates a 5 month period of turbulent magma flow. Five generations of micro-cracks are identified in, and described from the psammite but melt segregation into the cracks did not occur, despite melting at grain boundaries showing that on this time scale, melt segregation does not occur in such static anatectic environments even when there is micro-cracking.
