Summary:A geological map showing the distribution of carbonatite dikes around the Bayan Obo Nb-REE-Fe mine is presented. Occurrence, mineral composition, rock texture, and REE content of these carbonatite dikes were studied. Results indicate that there existed differences in magmatic evolution during the formation of these carbonatite dikes. This suggests that the carbonatite magma may be a source of the Nb-REE-Fe mineralization of the Bayan Obo deposit. [R.A.H.]
