Summary:In this paper, 40Ar-39Ar were obtained for garnet and eclogite composite samples using a laser probe. Two 40Ar-39Ar isochron ages were determined in this way. They are 400 Ma and 164 Ma, respectively. The age data show that the Bixiling eclogite was subjected to two phases of tectono-thermal events. Ultra-high pressure metamorphism took place during the Caledonian, and rapid uplift occurred during the Yanshanian. [J.F.]
