Summary:The results in the above papers show that ages from the Archaean basement complexes fall mostly in the range 2830-2680 m.y., with ages greater than 3000 m.y. being found only in the Tojottamanselkä gneiss dome. The Palaeoproterozoic magmatism occurred as distinct episodes: ∼ 2500-2430 m.y. intrusions and meteavolcanic rocks, 2220 m.y. differentiated mafic sills, 2140 m.y. mafic intrusions, ∼ 2050 m.y. intrusions and dykes, ∼ 2000 m.y. mafic and felsic dyke rocks, 1920-1910 m.y. felsic plutons and dykes, ∼ 1880 m.y. synorogenic plutonism and volcanism and ∼ 1800 m.y. post-orogenic granitic rocks.
