Summary:Manganosegelerite occurs in granitic pegmatites of the Kola Peninsula, Russia; it is associated with mitridatite, lun'okite, eosphorite, kingsmountite and manganoan gordonite. It forms aggregates (< or = 2 mm) of slender crystals (< or = 0.05 mm); yellow to yellow-green with a yellow streak; D 2.76 g/cm3; alpha 1.657, beta 1.668, gamma 1.691, 2V gamma 75 degrees, distinct dispersion r < v; alpha = c, beta = a, gamma = b; pleochroism: alpha yellow, gamma pale yellow. EPMA gave MnO 16.37, CaO 5.14, MgO 2.82, FeO 5.55, Fe2O3 16.44, Al2O3 1.48, P2O5 33.21, H2O (18.99), = (100.00). The strongest powder XRD lines are 9.39(10), 2.86(9), 4.70(5), 1.966(5), 1.880(5) Angstrom ; a 14.89, b 18.79, c 7.408 Angstrom ; V 2072.6 Angstrom 3, Z = 8; space group Pbca.
