Summary:The internal structure of the elliptical Brealito and La Paya granitic rocks that intrude the Puncoviscana and La Paya formations, respectively, was studied by using field structures and the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) technique. The magnetic fabric of the La Paya pluton results from the orientation of biotite, the main paramagnetic mineral in this granite (κ of 1.9-6.7×10-5 SI). The magnetic fabric of the Brealito granite is more complex since there is contribution from both paramagnetic and ferromagnetic (magnetite) minerals (κ of 22-466×10-5 SI). Total anisotropy values of the magnetic fabrics agree with the different magnetic types within the analysed samples. Both plutons have planar fabrics that are mainly N-S-trending and W dipping, and magnetic lineations that plunge at low angles in a N-S direction. [J.F.]
