Summary:An Ulster Museum Pt nugget reportedly found near Larne, N Ireland, was believed to be of Ural origin. The conclusions on provenance (Doughty et al. ) were based on a qualitative XRF scan, EPMA and comparison of its morphology and chemistry with that of a similar Ural nugget from the Natural History Museum, London. No other data were given. New data are now presented which unequivocally establish the nugget to be the alloy isoferroplatinum from a Ural placer deposit. [R.E.S.]
